New York, NY (Brooklyn) · Founded by Arley Marks & Jonathan Mosca
Arley Marks is a mixologist, artist, and owner of Brooklyn cocktail bar Honey's. Jonathan Mosca is an award-winning designer and art director who worked on Beasts of the Southern Wild. Together they founded Mamo around one conviction: the pleasure of drinking from a beautifully designed piece of glassware should always come with a sense of playfulness. The result is the Mamo Classic -- a reversible borosilicate glass that holds 7 oz one way and flips into a 2 oz shot glass the other way -- and a growing collection of coupes, tumblers, and cocktail glasses that earned a Cleverest Award from Architectural Digest before most people had heard of them.
A bartender and a designer walk into a glassware brand. Arley Marks has spent his career behind the bar -- as a mixologist, artist, and owner of Honey's, one of Brooklyn's most beloved cocktail bars. Jonathan Mosca has spent his behind a screen, as an award-winning designer and art director whose credits include the film Beasts of the Southern Wild. They came together around a shared obsession: that glassware had gotten too serious, too precious, and too fragile -- and that the best glass should be one you actually want to use.
Mamo makes colored borosilicate glasses that can survive an actual party. Dishwasher safe. Hot or cold. Designed in New York with the irreverence of people who have spent their careers in creative fields and their evenings at the bar. The Mamo Classic -- the glass that started it all -- is reversible: 7 oz cup one way, flip it and it becomes a 2 oz shot glass. Architectural Digest gave it a Cleverest Award. GQ, the New York Times, Food and Wine, Imbibe Magazine, and Bon Appétit have all featured the brand. The Mamo Coupe followed -- a contemporary take on the classic French champagne glass, designed to hold a martini as elegantly as a sparkling wine.
On a registry, Mamo is the bar cart glass that guests pick up and immediately examine -- the one that makes even a Tuesday night drink feel like it was thought about.
