Pillivuyt

Pillivuyt

Jean Louis Richard and Charles Pillivuyt founded their porcelain factory in 1818 in the Berry region of central France, in a former brick factory, with a conviction that French cuisine deserved porcelain worthy of it. They supplied royal courts across Europe, won gold medals at World's Fairs in Paris, London, Philadelphia, and Amsterdam, and invented the bistro espresso cup in 1904. Two centuries later, Pillivuyt is one of the last porcelain manufacturers maintaining 100% French production -- every piece still made in Mehun-sur-Yèvre, still by artisans who have inherited the craft from the generation before them. On a registry, it's the porcelain a couple's grandchildren will still be using.
