Peacock Alley

Peacock Alley

Mary Ella Gabler grew up in Pennsylvania Dutch country surrounded by antique quilts and handcrafted textiles, left for Wall Street -- one of the few women there -- and in 1971 made herself a small patchwork pillow that she loved. A Neiman Marcus buyer spotted it at a dinner party. She sold 250 pillows to Neiman Marcus's famous Fortnight celebration in 1973 and hasn't looked back. Peacock Alley is the first woman-owned, woman-operated multimillion-dollar bedding brand in America -- family-run, still in Dallas, still making the finest linens available.
