Raquel Souza started her career as an environmental engineer in Brazil, followed her instincts toward interior design, and then followed her heart to Lisbon -- where she discovered Portugal's extraordinary hand-painted ceramics tradition and never looked back. She founded Valsa Home with a single conviction: the table is the vibrant core of any home. Every piece is designed in Lisbon, hand-painted by Portuguese artisans, and made to bring color, warmth, and a genuinely lived-in beauty to any gathering.
Raquel Souza's path to Valsa Home wasn't direct, but it was entirely hers. She trained as an environmental engineer in Brazil before her instincts pulled her toward interiors -- toward the spaces people actually live in and the objects that make them feel like home. She pivoted to interior and product design, and then, a few years ago, she followed her heart to Lisbon.
Portugal's artisan scene was the revelation. Exploring it led her to ceramics, and ceramics led her to the hand-painted process -- patient, meticulous, deeply human -- and to a vision for a brand that didn't yet exist. She wanted to give the traditional craft a modern sensibility: designs that felt contemporary rather than folkloric, that would blend into any interior and speak to any generation, that celebrated the table not as a formal occasion but as the vibrant, layered, joyful core of daily life.
Valsa Home was born in Lisbon, made in Portugal, and designed around that conviction. Every piece -- hand-painted plates, color-pop cutlery, embroidered napkins, decorative candles -- is designed by Raquel and brought to life by Portuguese artisans in a process she describes as infused with passion at every step.
