Seattle, Washington (Ballard neighborhood) · Est. 2016 · Founded by Megan McLaughlin
Megan McLaughlin started making soap and blending fragrances with her mother, drawing on her great-grandmother's fiber arts tradition. She sold that company and hit the road -- living out of her tent in national parks and public lands across the country, inhaling the scents of pine forests, desert heat, mountain rivers, and coastal fog. She came home to Seattle and started capturing those scents in small-batch candles. Good & Well Supply Co. was founded in 2016 with a simple philosophy: Be Good, Do Good. Ten percent of every purchase goes to the National Park Foundation.
Megan McLaughlin's relationship with handmade, natural goods started with her mother and her great-grandmother's fiber arts -- a lineage of women who knew how to make beautiful things from scratch. She built her first company around soap and fragrance blending, then sold it and did something unexpected: she packed up a tent and disappeared into America's national parks.
For years she lived close to the ground in some of the most extraordinary landscapes on the continent, inhaling scents that most people only catch in passing -- the specific weight of a Pacific Northwest forest after rain, the dry pine resin of high desert parks, the mineral sharpness of mountain lakes. She came home to Seattle with a clear mission: bottle those experiences and put them in someone's home.
Good & Well Supply Co. launched in 2016 from Ballard, a neighborhood in Seattle that Megan describes as a small town in the middle of a big city. Every candle is made by hand in small batches using American ingredients -- soy wax from US-grown soybeans, balsa wicks harvested from already-dead wood, oils made and sourced within the country. The scents are named for national parks and landscapes: Yosemite, Olympic, Rainier, Joshua Tree, Glacier. Every order supports the National Park Foundation and the Washington National Park Fund, as well as Black Outside, which advocates for diversity and inclusion in the outdoors.
On a registry, Good & Well is the candle that brings the outside in -- and gives something back to the places that inspired it.
