Houston, Texas · Est. 2023 · Founded by Allie Friedman
Allie Friedman had a finance degree from CU Boulder, a career as a financial planner, and a feeling that none of it was quite right. In 2023 she walked away, picked up where her childhood love of painting had left off, and launched House of Savage in Houston -- handcrafted, hand-painted decor in resin, clay, and plaster that is bold, a little irreverent, and completely one of a kind. The piece guests walk in and immediately need to know about.
Allie Friedman did everything right. Finance degree at the University of Colorado Boulder. Corporate career as a financial planner, then a capital formation analyst at a real estate firm. Stable, respectable, completely unfulfilling. She had grown up watching her mother run an art business and had spent her whole childhood painting, making things, creating -- and somewhere along the way she had quietly set all of that aside.
In 2023 she picked it back up. She left the corporate world, started hosting pop-up shops and outdoor art markets with a tent and a table, and built House of Savage from there. Every piece is handcrafted and hand-painted by Allie in her Houston studio, made from resin, clay, and plaster -- sculptural objects that walk the line between art and decor, between luxury and edge, between the beautiful and the a little bit savage. The brand has since been carried at Urban Outfitters, appeared in BUST Magazine and the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas, and collaborated with A24. No two pieces are alike. Bespoke commissions are always welcome.
On a registry, House of Savage is the statement -- the piece that doesn't match everything else and makes the whole room more interesting because of it. The one guests walk in, stop at, and ask about before they've even said hello.
