Amy Burstyn Fritz and Sarah Pecaut grew up with a grandmother who believed the highest compliment you could pay a host was about their table. Amy runs a party-planning agency in Toronto. Sarah is head of events at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 2021 they founded Misette -- named for their Bubby -- to bring the curation and care of world-class event design into everyday homes. Marbled ceramics, hand-blown glass, embroidered napkins, gathered from artisans in Venice, Portugal, Spain, and Morocco. The table as a blank canvas. Every meal worth setting.
Amy Burstyn Fritz and Sarah Pecaut come from a family that loves to travel and loves to gather. Their grandmother -- their Bubby -- taught them early that the highest compliment you could bestow on any host was about their beautifully set table. Amy built a career as a party planner in Toronto. Sarah became head of events at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Between the two of them, they had spent decades understanding what it meant to make people feel welcome at a table.
During the pandemic, with the world suddenly confined to home, they decided to bring that world-class sensibility to ordinary evenings. They founded Misette in May 2021, naming it as a nod to their grandmother, and sourced their first collections from artisans around the world -- Murano glassblowers in Venice, ceramicists in Portugal, hand-painted tile makers in Spain, vessel makers in Morocco. Marbled ceramics. Hand-blown glassware. Embroidered napkins. Natural materials, global craft, a contemporary eye.
Lauren Santo Domingo of Moda Operandi came across Misette on a late-night Instagram scroll and immediately reached out for a collaboration. The resulting Primary Collection -- inspired by Mondrian, Miró, and Calder -- sold alongside Misette's existing line of pieces designed to mix, match, and be collected slowly over time. On a registry, Misette is the table that says something -- color, personality, a point of view -- and makes every evening feel like the occasion it is.
