New York, NY (dinnerware made in Portugal) · Est. 2022 · Founded by Susannah Endfield Kandinov & Colette Mahoney
Susannah Endfield Kandinov and Colette Mahoney spent over a decade building a historic British homeware brand into a cultural phenomenon across the United States -- traveling coast to coast, out of a showroom on Madison Avenue. Then they found a family-owned ceramics factory in Portugal and couldn't let go. Maison Madison launched in 2022 to celebrate what they'd always believed: that European craft and American glamour belong at the same table, and every meal deserves the good plates.
Susannah and Colette met through a shared design vision and a complementary set of skills -- and spent more than a decade putting both to work growing a tight-lipped British homeware brand into something Americans genuinely loved. They ran it out of Madison Avenue, traveled constantly, built deep fluency in consumer taste, manufacturing, and design, and came away with a clear sense of what was missing.
What they wanted to make was a love letter to a particular kind of American table -- the one that pulled out the good china for no reason at all, that treated an ordinary Tuesday dinner as an occasion, that passed its tableware down from one generation to the next. In 2022 they launched Maison Madison, producing their dinnerware at a family-owned facility in Portugal from the finest ceramic stoneware. Each piece is hand-finished, making it genuinely one of a kind. The collections are designed to mix and evolve -- one color, then another, layered over years into something that feels collected rather than bought all at once. Carried at Moda Operandi and Maison Flâneur. On a registry, Maison Madison is the table setting for the couple who wants dishes they'll still be reaching for in forty years.
